There comes a time where you want to further your knowledge of your instrument. Are there any other models you’d be interested in? What kind of amps would sound great with your guitar? What kind of pedals do you want to invest in? How will that sound all together. There comes a time where you are going to have to educate yourself. Time to get intricate and a little nerdy. It’s all good fun to learn and dive into certain products and brands. Here are a few thing you can go about that.
Articles and Reviews: You can check out guitar forums and online store reviews. Most of the time people are honest with their purchase, so you can take these reviews to heart and ultimately make a decision on your own. Every now and then you’ll find a review that has a random Joe who had to type out a book for his review. I read those for laughs.
Social Media: Goes without saying, social media is such a big platform for getting brands exposure. There are a numerous amount of account who review new and old gear, post new and upcoming products and of course pedalboard features. Take a look at some pedalboards, see what you like. Review some pedals you see and find out if that could be the new piece of gear for you!
YouTube: Here’s you can spend hours and hours on end discovering new things. Learning how certain equipment may work. Maybe even re-educating yourself on gear that you already own. Watch demos and tutorials and the best part: you get to hear how the equipment sounds! Watch, listen, learn.
I hope this has blessed you and would love to hear stories here, or on Instagram or Twitter @anhonestsound!

TIP: Have a favorite worship guitarist or love band’s sound for their guitars? Look up the guitarists and find out what they are running. Try recreating the sound with your own equipment before deciding to send a large amount of money on buying the exact same gear.
Don’t forget about forums. There’s a vast supply of experienced, helpful people out there who would love to explain the pros and cons of all tubescreamer varieties as well as their budget equivalents. The same with delay and ‘verb nerds.
