WAITING FOR YOUR TIME FEAT. CLARK STRASBURG

A few years back, I worked at period of time at Starbucks. For about six months, there was a Colony House song that would play overhead from time to time. It became my anthem in a way. It goes like this:

“I’m just waiting on the seasons to change

waiting for the curtain to fall

I could lose my cool

like a restless fool

but I’m waiting for my time to come”

This song found me at a very particular junction in life. I was fresh out of college, and jumping into real, unsheltered life for the very first time. The pursuit of my dreams had come to a halt, and where I was living was temporary and transient at best. It felt like being stuck. I tried moving forward, but nothing seemed to make a difference. I had no choice, but to simply just wait. And wait. And wait.

We all feel like this sometimes. Stuck in between where we are, and where we want to be. It’s frustrating. It’s confusing. It’s discouraging. When life feels stuck, when it feels like you’re being pressed and pushed, take heart. God is making room for something more.

God built each and every one of us for a purpose. He designed us, wired us up, and equipped us to do a task, to complete a mission. Even before we were born into this world, he had every moment of our lives laid out before Him, like a huge storyline. You came into this world, not on accident, or by surprise. You were born into a story that was written, edited, organized, and maintained by God!

We’re all at some point in the journey, so where are you? Do you find yourself waiting for the next big thing in your life? Do you not see any of the pieces coming together? It’s ok! We all have to wait at times. Maybe you’re in a waiting season. If not, you will be at some point. Here’s a few things you can do to wait well:

Keep your head up. The easiest thing to do when you’re waiting is to get discouraged. One of the most important things you can do is to continue to stay positive. Your words have power, especially over your own life. Speak life-giving things about your situation, and what comes out of your mouth will find it’s way to your heart.

Say “yes.” We are not the authors of our own story. You never know where a life changing moment could occur. You never know where you could meet someone. One thing is for certain, you can’t move forward if you aren’t moving at all! Say yes to things you maybe wouldn’t before! Maybe it’s outside your comfort zone. Perhaps its an inconvenience. You never know what could birth from starting something new.

Stay faithful. When we feel stuck, our instinct is to jump ship. Sometimes, the situation is simply calling for you to dig in your heels and stay faithful. So many times, things change when we have a resolve to remain faithful.

Just because you are waiting for your time, doesn’t mean you have to sit by idle! These times can bring out some of God’s greatest blessing in your life. God uses times like this to shape and build us to be better. Waiting prepares us for what is next. So keep your cool and hang in there, something new is just around the corner!

This is an overflow of creativity, knowledge, and experience. When given a talent, I quickly learned that it is for me to share. My passion is praising Jesus, and worshiping with my peers. My goal is to help upcoming and seasoned musicians reach their full potential. I love music, I love to worship. Here is your opportunity to do this with me. This is a time for me to be practical, to go in depth, to be honest. To make a sound louder than my guitars or amp with my drive to see others succeed. This, is An Honest Sound. -AO
