So obviously, it is a new year. Now, usually I set goals and things that I want to do. Which I do, but I don’t know what that totally looks like yet. This year I’m taking a new approach to An Honest Sound. This time I’m laying it all out there before Him and asking Him, what do you want Lord? What is it this year that you need me to do? Where is it that you need me to go?
I’m going to be completely honest, that is a scary thing to do! I have many discussions with my wife on asking God what does He want and that we are open to whatever that may be. That’s a very bold thing to do because you have no idea what that could be and where He could take you! In our household we believe in “be careful what you ask of Him, because He just might give it to you”. It could be something you’ve been wanting or it could be the total opposite and you’re left on a path you had no vision for, but He says go.
I’ve challenged myself in all areas of my life on this prayer, Lord here I am, use me, send me. As a musician, as a blogger (feels weird to call myself that), as a husband, take me somewhere I’ve never been before. Now, my question for you is:
What are you going to do this year?
Do you have vision? Do you have a goal? Are you in the same boat as me? What are you going to do? Challenge yourself, however that my look like and whatever that maybe. Read more of your word, relearn songs or learn some new ones, be somewhere new by the end of the year, or you can simply say here I am Lord, send me.
What you don’t want to do is…nothing.
Move, make change, throw caution to the wind and let the world know that you are here. Make demons tremble when you stand to worship the Lord and advance His kingdom. We are His vessels and if one of us stops moving, this miracle machine slows and rusts and can break down. We need to be on the move. We can fly overseas to serve or we can simply invite a friend to church. Be daring this year.
Now, you might not have this supernatural moment where the heavens part and the thundering voice of the Lord speaks and that’s okay. Sometimes it’s a whisper and sometimes He will tell you here and there and you’re just going to have to trust in His directions. Let Him take you on a wild ride this year.
Here’s to the year.
