We are Chris and Sandy- Husband and Wife. We love to lead people to worship and serve the local and global church. There’s nothing we want more than to serve Him on and off the platform.
What are some of the dynamics and advantages you two have while stepping into the atmosphere of worship?
The wonderful thing is that God had been working in our lives individually before we got married. He put dreams of being worship leaders and living a life in ministry. So it wasn’t a hard decision when we found each other, to start a ministry TOGETHER and join our dream to serve God. The advantage of stepping into the atmosphere of worship together is that we both have the same goal: to point people to Jesus. We both know that ushering people into his presence is what God has called us to do as worship leaders. The fact that we are husband and wife helps us achieve that goal because we are so comfortable working together. We have each others “back.” We have this mind connect. We don’t need to say something to each other, we simply need to look at one another and the other person knows what you want to do or where you want to go.
Knowing each other so well, does that reflect in your worship?
We were friends for 3 years before realizing we had deep feelings for each other and dated for a few years while trying to finish college. We have now been married for over 2 years and our bond continues to grow. Throughout this time we had the opportunity to really get to know each other so it was a smooth transition when we started ministering together. We’ve always been partners. Knowing each other on and off the stage has helped us so much because we know what’s on each others hearts and intentions. We know when there is something the other needs to project to the church or when a part in a song just needs to be silent.
What are some practical and spiritual things you do before leading worship or while putting songs together?
There are two areas we focus on when we prepare to lead worship: Practical and Spiritual. One practical thing to we do is the obvious one: go over the songs BEFORE. Knowing the songs beforehand will ensure that you are focused on ushering in God’s presence in and not guessing what key you are in. When it comes to spiritual preparation, we personally chose: fasting. We pick a day a week to fast because we like to feel like we are ready to go no matter what day of the week it is. We don’t like to feel like we have to wait for a special service or event to begin fasting. Having the FULL armor of God at ALL times is the goal.
